Default How do I tell what rearend I have?

Hey everyone, is there an easy way to figure out what rearend gears I have? It's a 06 Durango with 4.7. Any help is appreciated.

Hmm, I looked all around for one when I installed my helper bags and didn't see anything? Is there a specific spot on the diff?

Check one of the bolts on your diff cover. There should be one marked with a number letting you know which reared you have.

That's not good. Call your local dealer and give them your vin number. They can tell you.

Here you go. I think that your D has Chrysler 8.25" with 29 spline.

Are you looking for the gears or what type, model rear end? gears is kinda easy if there is no tag. You jack it up. Rotate the driveshaft by hand and count how many times the wheel spins you can roughly guess what gears you have. I think there were only two gear sets in the D though. 3.42 an 3.73.
