2005 Durango died on me
I was driving my Durango when all the lights ( headlights, and interior lights) started flickering, then my truck died. I lost all control of my steering. Thank god I was approaching a stop sign and almost stopped. So I called the dealer and they looked up my vin number and told me I had a 3yr/36k mile basic warranty. They then told me they would charge me 125.00 to check and see what was wrong with it. I found my window sticker from when I bought the car and it said 3/3 basic, and 7/70 powertrain warranty. What does a powertrain warranty cover? Does it cover the fuel pump, transmission, alternator, etc... everty thing with the engine? I do not want to get screwed over by these people. I live in Memphis, so if anyone knows of a good dodge dealer to take it to, please let me know. I love my durango and do not wanna have to get rid of it because its gonna cost me thousands of dollars. Please help asap, because I am scared to drive it in memphis and dying on me in the middle of bad traffic.
There is a recall on the 2005 Durango, but I think the alternator may need replaced. Take it to a body shop to evaluate the problem, not the dealer,

Sweetart:
First off, how many miles on your Durango?
If your battery is original, it could be a simple as a bad battery. Have the battery load tested, and if it comes back the least bit flaky replace it.
My guess is that you are over 36k miles. The 7/70 power train warranty covers the the engine, transmission, transfer case if 4wd, and both front a rear axles. Seals and gaskets for these assemblies are also covered. There is a $100 deductible per visit.
There are also a FEW external engine parts covered, but mostly internally lubricated parts. My dealer hear in Ohio charges $98 an an hour, so it sounds like they were planning on at least an hour and a quarter to look it over.
Stalling can be caused by a lot of things. Making sure you have a good, strong battery is the place the start.

+1 sweet, Memphis is not a place you want to break down in the middle of the road.
Just take it in to a trusted shop or buckle and go on into the dealer.
The money spent there is worth saving your life.

I believe certain 2005 models had a recall on the dash. Hopefully that's what it is and they'll cover 100% of it.

If you have a HEMI, it could be engine failture. There have been a number of 04-05 HEMI Durango's having valve spring failures. Kinda sickening to read about all of the failures on the Internet.
