Default no illuminated entry on door open or key fob

I have a 2006 Limited Durango and the interior lights do not come on with opening the door, or when you press the unlock on the key fob. The rotating interior light switch, although initially working, now does not seem to be working by changing the brightness of the the dash lights. The interior lights work upon manual push starts on the overhead counsole, and the rear overhead roof panel. All recalls have been done on the vehicle. All other lights and systems seem to be operating fine. Any ideas? Thank you!

All recalls?

Including the cluster recall?

If so, do it again or risk fire.

The dealer stated that all recalls have been done. What do you mean, or suggest?

My SLT had the same problem and after I did the last recall, the lights started working. Maybe something to do with the wire harness that they changed.

But in your case, all recalls were done. Could it be a fuse? or switch?

Ask your dealer to do the Cluster recall again or risk it.

What he means is there is a recall for 2006 D's on the instrument cluster, issues will appear with interior lights and then (not long after) the instrument cluster catches on fire and burns up the interior of the truck before suffocating itself because you were wise enough to park it with the windows up and all the doors closed.

+1 TDZ.

Of you are driving and stopped at an intersection, to suddenly see smoke and flames rising from inside the dash right in front of you... probably leading you to jump out of the car at that time leaving the door wide open to allow the flames to engulf the entire vehicle.

Or of course you could keep searching the web for another answer you like better because it certainly won't be explained any clearer than this one has been 3X now. In the interim, prayer may help.

Apparently, the dealer found the instrument cluster to be defective; no power from the cluster to the interior lights, upon door open or key fob press. He has ordered a new cluster.

Are these clusters continuously breaking down? In other words is replacing it today no guarantee of a problem in 6 months?

I had a different 2006 and never had a cluster issue! How much do the clusters cost?
