Default 2006 Power Lift Gate

I can open the lift gate manually but when i use the open button or the key fob the tail gate will beep then start to open then close right back up.Also when open it won't close with the button. Is there a sensor that can be changed or maybe some other problem?

Thanks for any help

I think the dealer has to reflash the PCM as there was an earlier post about this problem,

Mine and my dads were doing the same thing. It turned out to be the struts that hold the door open have rust on them. clean the rust off the end of the shaft with a pair of pliers or vice grips. The rust on the end of the shaft gets stuck in fat shock absorber.
Both doors work like a charm now.
