2nd gen Durango tire size question
Most 2nd gens came stock with 265/65x17 tires. I don't like the wide profile/short sidewall look on the truck, plus they rub on the inner rear fenders under full compression. Also, for snow, I much prefer a narrower tread width. The alternative 245/70x17s look a little wimpy. Has anyone put 265/70x17s on their D? Theoretically, they would slow the speedometer down a bit and gear the truck slightly taller. My '04 (w/Hemi) has the 'normal' 3.55 rear end, not the optional 3.92, and I frequently tow a 5000# trailer. Wondering if the taller tires would really make any perceptible difference in speedo or pulling. Thanks!
i put 265/70/17 on my 04 hemi lifted the front up to level it out by torsion bar lift about a inch and half no rubbing and it slow you down about 3 mph just get a superchips 3865 programmer and you can recalibrate the speed and i have 3.92 gears and if it rub under full compression i would look at some stiffer shocks or maybe some air bags
