Default Navigation unit not working

Hello. I have a 2006 Durango limited with a factory nav unit. The unit is sometimes booting up when I turn the vehicle on but after a few minutes it turns off and sometimes it never boots up. The screen goes black. When the screen goes out the radio audio still works and the presets and volume work but no other buttons work. So the radio remains on but nothing else functions and the screens is out. I can change the station only using the presets and i can turn the volume up and down using the **** and stearing wheel buttons but no other buttons are functional.
New units are $2400 and I would like to have this one fixed if possible.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks!
Joel
Oh and the dvd player in the rear works fine.

Did you ever figure out the problem/fix for this? My navigation unit is behaving the exact same way. It worked for a short time today but then went back to this issue? Any help is appreciated - I can't believe how expensive these are to replace!

Have you checked to see if the units are over heating. Bad heatsinks or fans. If equipped.
