Default Rpm?

2004 Durango wtih 61K. Bought is 1 month ago. When I get to about 2000 RPM the truck shakes violently. I took it to the dealer the day after I picked it up, and they siad nothing was wrong with it and they cleared the codes. It started doing it again, and it also shakes when I am stopped. I have an appt to take it back in, but I will tell them to keep it if it is something major. Any ideas?

Welcome to DF
What were the codes that the dealer cleared? The 4.7L have had a problem dropping valve seats and the 5.7L has had problems breaking valve springs.

Sounds like a missfire, bad coil perhaps.

Do the key dance to see if any codes show up:

The Key Trick:
1. With the engine off, turn the key to "RUN"
2. Turn key to "OFF"
3. Turn key to "RUN"
4. Turn key to "OFF"
5. Turn key to "RUN"
6. Look at the odometer, any codes should display or if no codes display it will read "done."

Fire lady:

Are you the 2nd owner? If so, consider getting yourself to a dealer and having the remainder of the 7/70 power train warranty put into your name. This will cost you $150, but it could pay off big if your D has a major issue.

Find out if your D has ever had the spark plugs replaced? If not, 61k is way over the replacement interval.

The shaking indicates either an engine misfire, or something in the drive line out of balance due to a bad or worn out part.
