Default New to me 06 SLT, Clock Spring Problem, Wipers turn on by them selves

Hello all I just picked up a new to me SLT, and we have noticed a slight problem, that when we first start the vehicle the wipers come on for a minute or so, and then go off, and also that steering wheel controls for the radio work erratically or backwards, or not at all...is there a recall that covers this...or a fix that can be made?

and a couple of pictures...

Kris:

Nice looking Durango. Congrats and welcome to the Durango Family!

I think FF is on the right track. Are you getting any red airbag warning lights along with this issue?

$300 sounds a little high for the repair. If you are not under any type of warranty, might do a little better at a local garage.

If you JUST bought it, hopefully the selling entity would at least go 50/50 with you as a good will gesture.

I thought that is what he said, 180 labor, and plus the part, like100-120.. but yes the selling dealer will pay 50%, so I will take it back to them...I am not getting any dummy lights, just when we fire up the D in morning the wipers come on for about 5 seconds, and then steering wheel audio controls work erratically...cant turn the volume up, some times the volume goes down all by its self...

Kris:

If they are saying they will only charge you half ($150), that's a pretty fair deal.

I am wondering though if that is really the issue. I am sure that you would be getting a red airbag light which is located in the speedo area at least some of the time of the clockspring was flaky.

Hopefully, if this is not the remedy, they will be reasonable with you on the labor until they find the problem.
