Default iPhone interface for factory radio?

Hello, so far the regular FM transmitter ($30) is not cutting it at all, too much static.

However, in talking to a Car audio place they suggested a cable that hooks directly from the radio (in the back) to the iPhone. The problem with that is no one is sure whether it would only play songs on my itunes or it could also play Pandora, AOl radio and any other app. Price $150 with install

The other soultion he mentioned was a high powered FM transmitter wired directly to the radio that when it's on overrides all FM. He assures me that the quality is great. Once it's turned off, I have my stations back. Price is $150 including install

Third was the most expensive option to have the radio itself changed to a new one that has all teh bells and whistles. Price $260.

Any of you out there have any experience with the iphone cable and the FM transmitters?

I would put in an aftermarket deck, that has bluetooth, Sirius/XM, and ipod hookup. Make sure you get the adapter that makes your steering wheel buttons work.

Default Update

Ok, this past Friday, I went to a place in Maine and had a 'high powered' FM transmitter installed. It hooks directly into the radio and splits with the antenna.

The sound is incredible. It has a 3.5mm plug and I plugged my iphone to it and listened to pandora, aol radio for hours while driving. I was skeptical at first but it was terrific with no static.

This one overrides all FM and its automatic. Once you plug your phone and start your app, it activated the unit. So far i'm impressed.

I'm having the same thing done on my volvo. Those guys even work with fiber optics systems. I was told by many audio places that I couldn't have an AUX for my volvo but these guys can do it.

Anyway I digress. Cost for install including labor and 2 antenna connectors $220.
