Do I really need a trans/diff/transfer case service at 50k?

THe patch may be in reference to a bag that one poster claims you put in the differential and it breaks open to release the lubricant. Never heard of it, but I am not a mechanic,

That patch deal was in the service manual. I was actually looking at the wrong trans though. Theres no mention of it with mine (both were in the durango/aspen manual).

That front diff drain/fill was a PIA. Just a lot of bolts to remove/install.

I saw a post on the Jeep boards about spraying the internals with brake cleaner? It wasn't mentioned in the service
manual so I didn't do it, but should I of?

Also, the manual said to only fill it to 3/4" below the drain plug. But it also said it should take 56 ounces. I stopped at 52 ounces to check the level but of course it was already even with the drain hole at that point. I tried using what I had available to remove the extra but I didn't get much out. Is it that big of a deal to have the extra fluid in there? I can easily get a siphon gun after work today if need be.

Thanks!

BTW, I don't know what the big freakin deal us about them releasing the maintenance records. Must be a HIPPA thing...lol.
