Default grille help

well, i am new to the durango side. but not new to the forum. just got a 2004 black durango limited 4x4, with the 5.7 for the wifey. the problem is the chrome on the front grille is bubbling. i am gonna black it all out. i just cannt find any new grilles that are black. i am talking about the shell and everything, not just inserts. so any links would be great. i donnt want to have to have it takin off and painted, but that just might be my only option. i have searched for a few days and cannt find anything in black.

I am having the same problem on mine, i was thinking about peeling the chrome off and painting it to match the rest of the rango! Haven't seen to many w/ the entire grill painted to match the rest of the vehicle, so might be one of very few.

Same issue with my '07...I think the sand on the roads from the winter puts a hole in there and then the rest is history.

The 04-06 grille shells are easier to find than the 07+. I can get an OEM for $210 off a forum vendor's site. But you know the same thing will happen in a few years. I'm going to take the grille off this summer and try painting to match the rest of the car. My chrome on the bumper also needs to be repainted, looks like sh#t.

Over the weekend, I tried to replace the grille on my 06 D. I had found instructions about how to remove it, but ran into a snag. I do not know how to remove the "clips" on the bottom of the grille (reachable from underneath the car).

Instructions I found are here, and the issue I had is "Picture #6":
http://www.grillcraft.com/installs/i...?install_id=60

Do these pins just pull out? I didn't want to try to remove them improperly.

Thanks.

I tugged on it, the grille, and it popped out. You could have someone pinch the tabs in while you pull on one side and repeat on the other side. Mine came out without breaking,
