Default Turning off DRL's!

I have an 07 Flex-Fuel 4.7 AWD.

There has GOT to be a way to turn off the damn DRL's.

Any help appreciated.

Also, any ideas on a hand-held tuner for this platform?

Thanks

I think jasonw, a moderator, has a SCT tuner for his wife's 4.7L Durango. I am not sure if it is hand held,

DRLs are not intended to be off, thus no. Why would you want to prevent the safety item?

Actually yes you can turn off your DRL. You cannot do this with your basic handheld tuner. You will either have to talk nice to a dealership employee or a small shop.

I assume your canadian and want to run hid's ?

cdn, hey there!

Anyways... the DRLs can be programmed off as you mention via the dealer, however the end user can't just turn them off.

Odd, my 07 doesn't have DRL's, unless previous owner turned them off.

Or is this a Canadian thing only?

Canada require driving lights on all the time.

That's EXACTLY right.

I am well aware of the "perceived" safety issues with DRL's. Personally, I think it's a crock. I am intelligent enough, living in Florida, where it is a state law to turn on lights during rain (for good reason), to know when to turn them on. That and our Durango's have the Auto-on feature.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

Yes, I purchased my 07 in Erie, Pa, and discovered it is a Canadian version. I have been trying for ever to install some 100W, HID-"like" bulbs, replete with a custom wiring harness, to no avail. I've cooked them three times. I know that the DRL system is interfering with this modification. That, and I just don't like DRLs'.

My current thinking is that a dealer should be able to re-flash the computer to a U.S. version, thus negating the DRL's. But, yes you are right, I gotta find the [nice] guy to do it.....
