My main point is mine in particular is a 4 wheel drive truck with low range it is supposed to be able to get wet splash guards are just a bandaid the root cause needs to be found because when the thing was right I could drive through water that was at the top of the wheels with not so much as a hiccup a little piece of rubber won't fix that my thought is that it is the trigger for the ignition with out a shop manual I have no idea where it is but most are magnetic pickups on the flywheel or behind the harmonic balencer

Get your manual here:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...nual-help.html

The 5.7L is fired by the PCM in response to the crank/cam position sensors. As before, the likelihood of water getting into them causing a bad idle is about nil.

Also, there is a TSB on this issue (caps lock theirs) (for example: http://www.allworldauto.com/tsbs/NHT...in_134283.html)
TSB #1802406/NHTSA ID #10020194: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Date Announced: JULY 21 2006
Subject: ENGINE CYLINDER MISFIRE OR IGNITION COIL MALFUNCTION DURING HEAVY RAIN OR CAR WASH.
Overview:CONDITION DUE TO EXCESSIVE WATER OVER/UNDER RUNNING COWL/SCREEN
Action: THIS BULLETIN INVOLVES REPLACEMENT OF COWL/SCREEN

A new/updated cowl is $125+ from the dealer, +2hrs labor if you have the dealer do it. Automotive window sealant/silicon is $15.99 at autozone.

YMMV

Ya know, you just have to love tsb's. The manufacturer acknowledges a faulty design and still charges you for their screw-ups.

It don't have to get into the crank/cam position sensors just the wiring or connectors that connect them to the computer if you alter the signal or change the resistance or capacitance it might start disreguarding the pulses as noise. I was hoping the Chrysler had gotten over their reputation of not running in the rain. My old CJ7 would run with water calf deep in the passenger compartment
