Exclamation Question

I took in my 2006 Durango in for the yearly NY state inspection. The dealer told me that I needed a " Fuel Injector Service & Throttle Body Cleaning. Is this just standard Bull from the dealership? I've never heard of this in the manual. I don't want to get Hosed..any thoughts?

Steve:

If your D has a bunch of miles on it, then the throttle body cleaning might do some good. You could also do it yourself, and save some bucks.

The injection cleaning is a pure cash grab. I have been driving fuel injected vehicles since 1994, and have yet to have any of my injectors "cleaned"

Tell us what model and engine your D is.

Thanks for the input Don, I have a 2006 5.7 hemi 33k miles. Just had a tuneup that cost me $500.

TB cleaning never hurts. For "injector cleaning," all I've ever done is throw some injector cleaner in the gas tank once every 25k or so.

+1 Jason although I would decrease the miles to about every 5-8,000 miles. Techron cleaner does well.

That and I juice my fuel with acetone (frequently.)

I use Seafoam followed by Mystery Marvel oil after every 3000 mile oil change,
