2004 Durango limited 4X4 with 5.7
Hi, im new to the forum, so bear with me if im in the wrong section, but I need to know is it normal for the truck to automatically increase idle speed when sitting in stop/go traffic in 103 degree temps? Thanks, Matt
Matt:
My guess is that you probably had the AC on as well as well with it being 103 out.
I see two ways that your idle speed could increase.
The first one is that the computer increases engine idle a bit when the AC is on to compensate for the extra load of the compressor.
Secondly, at such high temps while sitting still again the computer can increase idle speed to move more coolant and air through the radiator.
When was the last time your cooling system was serviced?
