Default Dangling Exhaust Grounding Strap

So, need a little help here. Where does the grounding strap (frame to exhaust just in front of the muffler) get routed? It is dangling down and I can't figure out where it goes, maybe missing a bracket? a pic would be helpful. Thanks in advance - 2004 Durango, 5.7 Hemi 4x4 SLT

I have a 06 and it connects where the pipes connect from the resonator just remove the bold then put it on and screw it back on if that makes sense? I haven't put mine back on and my check engine light came on did your light come on with it not connected?

Thanks - mine didn't tear off, rather both ends are connected - one to the frame and the other where you suggested. Not sure where the middle goes. So it is hanging like a loop (ready to catch on the least little thing!). It either goes above the heat shield or there is some bracket that it missing and it connects too. I can't tell. So from the frame, I need to know how the strap is routed up to the exhaust. Hope that clarifies my problem...

As to check engine light being linked to a grounding strap. I'm not a mechanic, but I would guess that they are unrelated - the exhaust would ground up through the engine itself via the exhaust manifolds (and the engine is grounded) - so it seems that this strap back by the resonator/muffler is a secondary for some reason.

Now, if Dodge happened to put a flex coupling between the exhaust manifold and the pipe, then this strap would be necessary and probably cause a check engine light because of lack of ground for the O2 sensors. Did you read the code?

Good luck...
