On-Off Switch
Hello all,
Was looking for some ideas to help me figure out what this on/off switch controls. Recently purchased an 04 Durango LTD (5.7 Hemi) with factor tow package. There is an on/off switch under the steering column that I cannot figure out. Tried troubleshoot what I would think is the obvious to no avail. Nothing in manual and it appears to be after factory but dealor could not tell me what it is for. Tried tracing wires, but that did not shed any light. Wires just go up into the dash underneath.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

could it be instead of a brake controller? how would i know and would a switch be able to take the place of a controller? just on to activate and off to deactivate, hmmm the wires do not go to the brake controler adaptor. i guess the only way to test would be to hitch up and try...
A small switch like would very unlikely be anything to do with a brake controller. It most likely turns power on and off to some accessory the last person put in. Are there any non factory looking items in the Durango? Anything outside lights so on ? any wires coming through the firewall?
If the D had a alarm/auto start installed it could be the valet switch. If bought from the Chrysler/Dodge dealer they usually remove all of the alarms and auto start.
Most valet switches are located under the dash above the E-Brake they just let them hang there tied to an existing harness under the dash.
Hope this helps
