Power Steering Question 2004
New here and have a question about the power steering on a 2004 Durango.
Power steering went out the other day....checked fluid and was empty.
Put more fluid in. It blew off one of the boot clamps on the rack. Is the cylinder in the rack and pinion leaking and allowing the fluid to pass thru and into the boot?

Chrysler steering racks in general are known for being leaky. Both my previous 01 Durango as well as the wife's 05 Grand Caravan had theirs replaced way to early but thankfully under warranty.
I would take a rag and wipe everything down in that area, and then have a helper turn the wheel with engine running while you watch underneath.
I believe its a bit of a job to replace one, somewhere around 3-3.5 hours and $600-$800 if you have it done.
