"Creaking" sound going over bumps
I hear a "creaking" sound when going over bumps in my 2006 Durango. I only hear it at slow speeds, but it is definitely there. I am not sure if it is coming from the front or rear. I've mentioned it to my service guys, but they say they can't hear anything. I asked if the shocks should be replaced, but that said since the vehicle is not riding roughly, there was no need to replace them. The vehicle has just over 60,000 miles on it.
My driveway has a drain at the end of it which forms a nice bump for me to drive over every day. I have to turn right into my driveway and this is where I first noticed the noise. Now I can hear it going over rough roads/terrain. I just want to know if this is indicative of an problem and maybe a direction to point the service folks in.

Did you ever crank up the torsion bars, I had an 06 and currently have 08 Durango, as the shocks wore on each, the suspension would travel further and creak. Shocks fixed the problem on the 06 and now the 08 is up to the same problem. Factory Durango shocks are the size of a #2 Pencil. I put Rancho RS5000's on the 06 and could not believe the ride improvement. Kds said before the new shocks it was like rding at the back of the school bus. Loved Ranchos and getting them again.
Update: I ordered four new Rancho shocks for the Durango. I will have the sway bar bushings looked at when they put the shocks on.

I've had this problem before,,, chech your front suspension, ball joints or tie rod ends could be getting tight, dry, or siezed. Let us know what you find. pass on the knowledge.

I will post when I find out what the issue was. I am going to have them check the whole front end. I have noticed that it seems to only happen when it is cold outside. Last week we had temperatures in the high 60s and the creaking was not as noticeable. This week it has reached near freezing and I definitely hear the creaking while driving to work in the morning.
Okay, I finally had the vehicle in for service. They put the four new Rancho shocks on and the creaking sound is all but gone. I still hear it sometimes going over bumps, but not near as much with the old shocks. They said they checked the suspension and everything was fine. I guess I just have to live with the remaining "creaks".
