Buying '08 4.7 L awd Durango
Hi,
I'm really close to buying a 2008 Durango SLT with awd and the 4.7 L motor. I can get a pretty good deal on it and it's got just over 90,000 km on it. It looks to be in really good shape, and doesnt have a hitch so its never been used to tow which is good.
I'm coming to Durango's from a 2006 GMC Envoy which we just totalled in an accident last weekend - got tboned by a Gmc Safari- and thankfully nobody got hurt. The Envoy saved our lives.....but I cant find a nice one to replace it with.
Before I pull the trigger I'd love some advice or info from you fine people here, if you please.
1. Any real problems to look out for?
2. Are there anymajor service items I should worry about? (has 93k km)
3. Any recalls or other issues?
Honestly I havent found anything from my searching here so far so it looks like the 2008 4.7 L's are pretty good trucks all in all.
I'd appreciate your comments.
Thanks in advance!

GCB:
That 08 4.7 Durango is somewhat of a rare beast since it should have the upgraded 303 hp engine.
2008 was the last full year for the Gen 2 Durango which was freshened up in 07 with a new front end, and mechanically in 08 with the engine upgrade.
For the most part, Dodge had the platform prety well debugged by then. Sadly, they only mad the 09s for a few months stopping production in the Fall of 08.
I would get a Carfax on it, and try to verify it has been properly serviced to date.

seems kinda high mileage to me for being an 08, i purchased mine last feb its an 04 and when i purchased it it only had 92k... only thing i would check is the cooling system. Ive bought 2 durangos an 04 slt plus and an 05 slt, both seemed fine the day i got them until i took them for their first long drive... both overheated, one needed a water pump and a radiator the other just a radiator... Cooling systems on these durangos are known for their issues... check the coolant color... if they are running only water, god forbid, then dont buy it. other than that they are great trucks. i love mine... its up to almost 160 and having its first run of issues's since ive had it, and ive put nearly 70k on mine in a year and a half. good luck
I've got 120K miles on my '08 4.7L. At 80K the catalytic converter quit, the driver side exhaust manifold cracked, and I also had leaking transmission cooling line replaced. Other than that it's been great.
