I have a 04 Durango 5.7L, it started to shut off while my wife was driving while I was deployed from 2010-2011. They took it to a stealer and they fixed the gas pedal for over $500. Which is a load of crap in itself, anyway it has started to shut off more and more. Weird has it may sound it shuts off more when it is raining. I'm about to make a 4,000mi trip to my new duty station in Alaska. Does anyone have any ideas I can try before I take it to another stealer. I have a good friend who is a certified to work on cars we just need to know a starting point. Thanks

 

There is talk on the forum about the 5.7's having water drip down onto the engine from the back of the hood during rain which caused this. I thought I read that there was a recall on it. Maybe someone else can speak on this who've had similar...
