Default 04 VES System

My 2004 Durango has the factory-installed VES, XRV Rear Seat Video System on the build sheet. There were no headphones included when we bought the truck so now we are searching for 3 sets of replacement headphones, but are trying to not spend $70+/piece. Based on what information I can develop, the system broadcasts to the headphones via radio frequency in 2004 Durangos. The spouse & I are going nuts trying to find out the broadcast frequency so we can purchase a cheaper set of headphones that will work with the system. My husband used a spectrum analyzer that locates broadcast frequencies to search what frequency the VES is transmitting on, but could not find any frequency ... which also makes us wonder if the transmitter is working. No one at our local Dodge dealership can help. Does anyone on this forum know if all 2004 Durangos with the factory-installed VES transmit via RF? Also, what RF frequency does the VES transmit on? Thank you in advance for your help!!

Yes, 2004 and most 2005's VES are RF.

This is a post from another forum that should help:

Over three years since the original post and I think I have a clue! I recently bought a used '04 Durango with the factory VES and wanted to buy a couple extra sets of wireless headphones. Here's what I learned...

The '04 Durangos use the 900MHz RF wireless system, headphones are part number (4685936AE) which sell for $110 at the dealer. I think all subsequent years use IR, but a quick call to the dealer could answer that (IR P/N is 05064037AA I think).

Not knowing the exact Frequency of the system I took a shot and bought several sets of aftermarket RF Headphones in various freq ranges and finally hit on one.

The RCA WHP141 headphones work perfectly when set to channel two (they have three channels). Channel two is 912.5 MHz, so presumably any RF headphones that receive at 912.5 MHz will work with the '04 Durango VES. The RCA WHP141 are $28-$48 depending on where you get them. I got a set from my local Wal-Mart at the high end of the price scale, but needed them now for a road trip.

Hope that helps someone!

My VES (Video Entertainment System) in my 2004 Dodge Durango Limited HEMI Engine has a broken display, do anybody knows who can repair it or do anybody knows who is the manufacturer of the VES?

I had a similar problem with my wifes 05. First the navigation **** broke (actually it was broken when we bought the truck). I was researching how to fix it and then the display went black. I ended up buying a whole new radio here.

It sucked laying out the cash but we needed a radio in the truck. We have had it for a year and a half or so. So far its still working well except for the information for the satelite radio stopped displaying a few weeks ago. The screen still works fine though.
