Default fuel/ power/ lasting

okay dokay , new guy here .looked every where can get straight answer. wife got a 06 durango w/4.7 , does allright on fuel but would like to do better possibly and lil more get out of the way power. but the thing is that come febuary we'll have a new baby ! so not to be too loud but better flow i guess. i have x2, 2"or2.25"or 2.5" not totally sure 18"L quallity glass pacs that r pretty loud that i had on my 390ci ford, barley used like new. the place i got them said if i turn them around they would b quieter so if i remove one or both stock mufflers on the durango n replaced with glass packs ,n keep stock pipe size, will it loose bottom end torque or fuel economy. not sure if all back pressure thats needed is taken care of by the cats.

also the section of intake after the filter box and before the throttle bdy can b just ran w/straight tubing or if the extra intake chamber stuff is needed?

one last thing , i was thinking that a tranny filter change n flush is due, i was curious if shift kits are a good ideas or too much stress on the trans? since shift kits include new filter n save lil while getn installed because when durangos first started then put in D it seems wierd like its slippin or the whole new vihicle smooth shift nonsence . maybe tighten up shift with chip?

all said and done i would like to do new fuel filter, intake, exhaust, shift kit, chip, but fuel /power will it last as long ? wife will b the main driver for i have a 00f150 5.4 4x highflow cats 3" to 2.5 dual magnaflow S&B intake / had chip but the predator diablo deleted truck had to flash, not sure if all add ons have eating fuel and stray animals

Thanks for taking time on my gibber gabber

and they all lived happily ever after THE END

Just leave it alone. Even the HEMI with over a 100HP more than the 4.7 isn't fast. Your best bet would be an used Superchips handheld tuner.

Definetly don't out an exhaust on the family rig that will be transporting babies. Your wife will kill you LOL

+1 on this. I had a 2500 hemi truck with muffler and cold air intake. It was loud. change muffler to a flowmaster big block muffler (quietest they have) still load. put stock air box in, with straight tube to intake... much quieter, but still noisy. Livable though at that point... Performance, no real change though it all.
The Durango I have now, stock except for the superchips which i had from the 2500 truck. It woke up the shifting a bit. MPG didn't change much, but I basically put it on right away so nothing to compare to and the overhead display can't really be trusted. I run the tow tune, but it might be better if I put it on econo tune. The crisper shifts and higher rpm probably are better as I drive on lots of large hills here in the mountains.

Thanks all for your help . But here goes another ?? I gues the wife tells me she doesn't want it loud like mine but wants it to sound like a V8! I LOVE THAT WOMAN ! So stock exhaust, there's the lil one at rear , then the HUGE one before that. Has any one just eliminated the huge one with straight pipe n left the lil one . Is there an eliminator pipe made to replace the big muffler . Or I have a 18" chrome tip to get rid of just the lil one ? Jsut ideas before I get rid of both

PS I'm guessn the pipe is stock 2.5" ??? So now I'm thinking my glass pacs r 2" boo HOO
