Default '04 Durango Won't Start - Transmission Grinding

This thing is my wife's daily driver. Saturday I started it up to move our 6k# boat around so I could wax it. I left it hooked up (wheels of the boat chalked) through to today (Monday), and when my wife tried to start it, it just made a loud grinding noise for a split second, then would stop. It would grind every time you turn the key, so I figured it was a bad starter.

Once I got it into the garage, jacked it up, and had my wife crank it while I was under looking at the starter, I realized the sound seemed to be coming from the front left of the transmission, almost sounded like directly in the pan. This has got me concerned now. I made a video of the sound in hopes of some suggestions.

The battery if fairly new, and everything seems to have plenty of power (windows, lights, power seat, etc...). It doesn't seem like a dead battery when you try to crank it and then everything shuts off and you get the relay click.

I checked, and cleaned the battery posts and put the charger on the battery just in case. Hopefully it's just a battery problem.

Snapped piston rod. Put hole through block. Hydrolocked due to heavy rain, leaky intake manifold gasket, and engine stopping just before the #8 cylinder compression stroke.

That sucks. An engine with a view.
