CD Player, Dead Battery...
Hi guys, a couple of days ago my 04 durango wouldnt start, dead battery. Boosted it, charged the battery runs fine. Problem is the CD (6 disk) player no longer works its dead. Radio works fine. I've read a little about it and seems to be a "common" problem.
Gonna start calling wreckers tomorrow and hopefully pick up another on the weekend.
Question is what year CD players can I replace with, I don't want to do any wiring, I assume that 04, 05 will work. But can I get one with the MP3 Player plugin? If the one with the MP3 plug requires rewiring then thats out of the question. Has anyone do it before?
Thanks in advance.

Yes it should.
If its the model with front aux input, and your original unit had 6 disc changer (no front input) and the rear seat dvd, the dvd may not play through. I haven't seen that combination together yet.... mine has the rear dvd, and so did my 07 megacab and neither had the front aux input. The reasoning I believe is that its in the back plug so that it can take the input from the dvd player.
i could be wrong though.....
Anyone out there with factory rear seat dvd that also has an aux input (little headphone jack) on the main stereo head unit?

Ok, done, took all of 15 minutes to install, Original part number P05064010AL, replaced with part number P05091175AB. There was no MP3 aux plug on either unit. Works fine.
A couple of comments talked to 2 dealers 1 said there was no way it would work, the other said it should, so take the dealer comments with a grain of salt.
Quickly took the covers off of both players and looked, the front circuit boards are different and the plugs are different so I dont think that they are interchangeable. The inside mechanisms looked similar but the boards were not the same.
Have now taken the original apart to get my CD's out. I think that the problem with the unit was a sleeve that moves the individual CD's up and down, it seemed to have been caught and unable to move. In my haste I broke it. Seems like a cheap little part.
Anyway, thanks for the help, maybe this will help someone else.
