Camman:

Thanks for posting a follow up comment so we know what the outcome was.
How many miles were on your D when the trans issue began?
We had an 05 4.7L 4x4 D at work whose converter died at 62K. Replaced the converter and it is still on the road today.
The build date on that D was 05/05.

May I ask if just the TQ was replaced, or did they go through the entire trans?
Don

It had 70k on the odometer when it went. They replaced the converter and all the clutches. They flushed the pump and cooler. It seems to be running great.

Default Same symptoms

My 05 Durango just had the same thing happen! I was driving home with my wife in the rain and the engine suddenly was revving up as if it was in neutral and I had no gears after I drifted to a stop. The tow light came on when it happened. I am concerned that the torque converter is out also. I had a few episodes of hesitation on shifting into gear in the past but nothing that I was concerned about. It is being towed to a shop to be evaluated.

Angry Torque converter

My problem was also the Torque converter. The transmission was replaced and it drives again! Expensive problem at $3200.00.
