Hello! I'm new in this forum, I'm from San Luis Potosí, México. I own a 2004 Durango Limited, HEMI 5.7 Magnum. Just want to introduce myself with a post about my in-dash stereo replacement. I'm posting pictures tomorrow. (I'm sorry about my english, I'm trying to do my best)

Thansk "fascistfaction"... The things turn more difficult than I expected. The computer does not recognize the stereo, it powers up, and the steering wheel controls works fine, but have no sound!!! After a quick research I realize it needs an extra "CAN bus harness". Any ideas?

wonder if.....
I recently swapped out a satellite cd radio for a navigation satellite radio. The computer in the car had to be reprogrammed as the vehicle id number had to match up with the new radio. Few people knew this but a service advisor in Indiana was on to the issue. Once the numbers matched the radio worked fine. I don't know if this applies to you, but it would be worth checking it out. Good luck.

Rafa, here is what happened. It's interesting because Sirius satellite did not have the solution until my Dodge Durango service advisor suggested what needed to be done. First, the service advisor "read" my car computer by hooking up his remort receiver to the vehicle. That "read' all systems in my vehicle. The radio, which came from my old Durango, and was swapped into my new Durango, read my old Durango vehicle identification number. All of that info was clear as day on his computer screen. Sirius satellite never asked me anything about the vid issues. They kept trying to send me new satellite signals, all to no avail. My advisor suggested that Sirius swap out the old vid for the new vid in their (sirius) computer records. Once they did that the radio worked. In other words, Sirius would not work unless their records synced on the vehicle id and the specific installed radio.
A couple of interesting points. First, I got very lucky with this particular service advisor. He is located in Southern Indiana, and I found him becuase I was traveling in that area. I called one other dealer prior to contacting him. Their advisor told me to forget it, the swapped radio would never work, since the computers would never match, and they would have to be changed at a huge cost. That service advisor relied on one of his mechanics for this incorrect info, because, he himself did not know. Second, Sirius, had no clue, and it was their radio operation that was at issue. Third, the controls on the Sirius radio (volume, channel tuning) would not operate until the aforeststated was changed, giving the appearance that the radio was broken.

Thanks Suzanne! After a exhaustive research I finally figure out how to wire it up. Now my head unit is fully functional: GPS, Reverse Camera View, iPod, Cell phone, DVD and TV (poor signal in the area). I have to splice some wires and by pass the amplifier but everything works just fine.
