Default 06 Durango 5.7 Hemi possible problems

Okay I just bought an 06 D and wanted to know if there are any known problems to look out for. It has 77,000 km and seems to be in great shape. The oil pan looks rusty though.

Dcta:
As long as you don't have any CE light, and it runs good, you are off to a good start.
You will want to inspect and try to determine if the required maintenance has been done on it such as, coolant, trans, transfer case, front/rear axles, plugs, etc.
Being an 06 with the Hemi, you have the MDS cylinder shutdown system which requires the use of 5w20 oil.

It might also be nice to email your VIN number to Dodge customer assistance so they can send you a build sheet which will tell you every option your D left the Delaware factory with!

Is that typical maintenance at 77,000 km? I did notice the coolant was orange-ish and the sales guy said that was long life fluid.

Is there a recall for that problem?

Yes there is a recall for the fuel tank purging gas. Call a dealer with your VIN to verify.

The factory coolant looks red, and some say orange.
The replacement interval is 5 years OR 100K miles.

I am getting ready to replace my coolant as it will hit the 5 year mark in September.
There will most likely be less that 60K miles on it, but again the 5 year mark will pass.

After not changing the coolant in my 98 D and having to change the heater core (see pict). I will change it soon. Is prestone or one of the others from Walmart okay or do I need the dealer stuff? When should I change the tranny, diffs and transfer case oils? should i get the dealer to do this or can i buy these oils and change myself?

DCTA:
I like to use the Peak Global Gold coolant which is supposedly a lifetime fill. You can use any brand you want as long as it is HOAT type.
I have also read that Zerex Gold GO-5 coolant is equivalent to the factory fill.

What ever you do, the GM Dexcool is a no no so don't even go there.

As far as your trans, transfer case, and axles, 50K is good for the trans and T case unless you tow a lot. Be sure to go back in with an approved brand of ATF+4. I like either Royal Purple or Mobil 1 for the axles.
I had installed M1 in the axles on my 01 D, and 30K later when I replaced it it looked like I had just put it in.
