Default 07 Durango ETC, MDS issues

Greetings from central Indiana! Got a couple hopefully minor issues with my wifes 07 Durango. Issue #1, the ETC warning light (the lightning bolt) occasionally comes on, with extremly rough running and surging. I have removed and cleaned the throttle body a couple times over the last 18 months, this has always resolved the problem. However, lately the throttle resonce hasnt been the greatest, this morning on the first start of the day the engine immediatly reved high (3500-4000) then slowly dropped back to normal. Needless to say, this got my attention! Any ideas?

Issue #2, I am trying to solve a MDS trouble code. I cant recall the code #, but it was related to solenoid #1. I removed the intake, hoping to check resistance on each solenoid. One solenoid had a bunch of white crusty crap "growing" out of the solenoid. When I tried to pull it out of the engine it came apart. I replaced it with the one solenoid I had already purchased and checked the resistance of the other 3. All measured around 12 ohms, which is within spec. Obviously, I couldnt terst the one that broke. I buttoned up the engine, hopeing the soleniod with crud growing was the defective one. I drove to the nearest Autozone, cleared the code, and drove away. Within 3 miles the CEL light was back with the same code. Any suggestions

Those MDS wires are exposed to a lot of heat under there. They may be melted together slightly towards the back end. I replace quite a few of those harnesses. That area under there is a haven for mice because of that foam insulation. Yeah, those MDS solenoids almost always break off.

For the ETC light, I need some codes to help any with that. The ETC light comes on for more reasons than just the throttle body.

Welcome to DodgeForum BTW

Thanks for the info, my next move is to verify solenoid resistance at the PCM. That would ensure the wiring from the PCM to the solenoid is in good condition. Got any ideas as to pin location/wire color?

As for the ETC, the only codes stored were the MDS and a EVAP code. However, I'm guessing there are probably a ton of codes that wont show up on a cheap Autozone scan tool.

My 2007 had a cheat with the key and the ignition. If you turn the key to 'on' (not crank) to 'off' three times ending on 'on' the odometer will flash any codes.
