Default MSD Ignition Coils - 2008 HEMI 5.7

Evening All.

Anyone running MSD Ignition coils on their HEMI's? Since we just purchased a 2008 SLT, I'm looking to do a full tune as soon as the weather is nice enough to spend the day in the driveway.

By full tune, I mean , EGR valve, Sensors (O2, TPS), Plugs and was going to say wires, but I see each set of plugs has their own ignition coil. Clean throttle body, etc.... With 113K, might consider a seafoam treatment or some such carbon removal step.

Back to the MSD Coils....Like em or Love em? at $400 I'd prefer to more than like them.

Thanks.

I too am looking at the MSD coils... Did you ever get any more input on these?

Found this write up, but I'd still like a second opinion.

No, not a lot of reviews for coil packs out there. Flipping a coin trying to decide on a Tuner or the coil packs next. I did plugs yesterday (WTF?!) so I might go with a tuner just to give my arms time to recover from being bent at odd angles for 4 hours.

Prob go with the Packs some time in the summer.

In general there just doesn't seem to be a lot of talk (other than 04's) for the Durango. Guys must buy them for their wives and then keep their hands off it, and save all the tinkering for the truck.

You will need a custom tune if you get one from Diablosport. The canned tune from them is not much better than factory.

Do you have a line on custom tunes? I've looked over hemifever a few times, but don't recall him offering a solution for the 08 Durango. It doesn't doesn't help that the cortex is now available... Course I don't know enough about tuners to know if one canned tune offers anything over another.

Thanks. I also checked on Hemifever again...his Diablo tuner is good for the 08 Durango. I was only focused on the SCT tuner...

I will agree with that! Our 04 Rango is my wife's DD and I do the tinkering on the 01 ram. But the 04 (as with most first year run vehicles) have their share of quirks and weird engineering that could use some improving. So for example I already told her I'll be taking the 'Rango out of commission Sunday to fix the cowl and intake gaskets... It's been stalling in the rain, go figure!

I've a 98' 1500 5.2L that is my 'winter' DD...I don't do a whole lot of tinkering, as that takes money and time that I could use for gas to go fishing with, but I do spend plenty of time 'dreaming' of tinkering...on the ram and the Durango.

I'd like to lower the D, but I'm afraid the Torsion adjustment are already lowered as far as they'll go...quite a bit of thread showing, and get rid of the ugly *** running boars some JA put on there, or go with black tubes, smaller profile, less resistance. Want to squeeze ever last drop of MPG out that I can.

Sea Foamed the engine a few weeks ago and picked up 1.5 or so (if I drive like it's a 4-banger) and another 3 after replacing the plugs. On display average MPG's went from 12.1(1st 3 weeks of purchase) to 16.1 . (mixed driving 60/40 (hwy/city)). I'll be happy if I can find another 1 or 2 mpg's

I put sport tubes from Westin on my 2007 Durango and sold the running boards. I most have deleted the picture I had of it on my photobucket page...
