04 locking hubs

Default 04 locking hubs

I have 04 Durango with all drive or 4 lock can I lock the front hubs some how?

And do u no the biggest tires I can fit after turning in tortion bolts? I got stock rims.

by turning the selector switch to 4 lock is the only way.. they are controlled with vaccume pressure.. and I dont know the biggest tire size.. i would guess a 305 50 would be about max

I guess what I mean is, when its in 4lock it only turns one front tire when im really stuck. It dose not lock all 4 so they all turn no matter how stuck or what tires are on the ground ?

Back to teaching.
4wd doesn't mean all 4 get power. It means you have power to the front diff and rear diff.
Unless lockers or even limited slips are installed in the diffs then this is what you have. One front and one rear powered when in 4wd.
One rear powered when in 2wd.
Its factory. Nothing is wrong. Its the way it is.
Live with it or spend money to improve it.
A couple grand should suffice.
Lockers front and rear will give you all 4 wheels powered when in 4wd.
Both rear wheels powered in 2wd. Its really that simple.

limited slip is only thing available for stock front diff. limited slip front and locker in back should do quite well.

Thanks D duck. I have called a few places and they have told me that I cant buy anything to get all 4 locked at once, but they did say someone might know of a way to do it yourself kinda way. Maybe weld something? Any ideas on that please? Its a project hunting rig, so ill anything on it if legible.

Yes. You can weld your spiders but unless its a dedicated off road rig you won't like it and without selectable lock/unlock front hubs you dont want to weld the front. At all.
You could put a L/S up front and weld the rear.
It would work well but you better have a real welder weld it for you.
Even then it could still break.
I've done it on a Dana 60. First weld broke. Second time didn't.
