Question Need a hand with my radio

2004 Durango Limited 4.7L

Been having a hell of a time with horrible static on any radio station I happen to find on the OEM 6 disc radio. Checked the antenna cable on the back of the radio a few times and after reading a few forums thought that it might have something to do with the tuner being bad. Bought a used stereo online that is OEM for 2006 Chrysler because I wanted the AUX port.

Radio volume wouldn't work on the newly installed radio. I hit the scan button and it wouldn't pick up any stations (just like the old one). I forgot that I had 2 cd's in the old radio, so I plugged the old one back in, got my cd's, then put the new one back in. The new stereo won't turn on at all now.

Is this a security thing? Do I need to disconnect the battery for a bit or maybe take it in to a dealership? Not really sure where to go from here and have been looking for answers online for hours, any help would be great.
Thanks!

Exclamation Update

***Update***
After leaving the new radio installed overnight, the thing seems to be working ok now. The stations come in a lot better but still cut out with static from time to time. I think I just need to burn the old radio as a sacrifice to the Electrical Gremlins.

My '06 radio didn't have any security features I don't believe. Put in an aftermarket but still have the OE.

Good luck and hope it works out for you. Also, I think the burning of the old radio is justified!
