Overheating Problems
First off my Durango would overheats when idling, than cool when driving anywhere. So I changed the water pump and also changed the thermostat. Now it just plain overheats and starts to steam and everything. Am I missing something?? Any advice would help......
this is a long shot but does is cerpetine belt installed properly? I think there are belts available for no AC but if a person were to install that on an AC engine that person might have to skip the water pump pulley to get the smaller belt to fit. stranger things have happened.
The belt is right we checked that too....
It stopped overheating for about 2 weeks and was running fine But now it will start heating up again and go back down and it fluctuates between middle and hot on the gauge.... I don't know what else to check on at this point I've replaced the thermostat, water pump, and the clutch fan just to make sure that wasn't it. I've gotten all the air out. Any ideas will help. I might just take it in to the shop and see if they can figure it out.

sounds to me like it's time to clean the cooling system. make sure it is done with a cooling system cleaner and not just water. also done with reverse flushing.
this cleaning is something I usually leave to a shop due to large amounts of liquid to catch.
