2004 Durango 4.7 starting problems
Two days ago I started my 2004 Durango. It had been sitting overnight when I went to start it. It started right up but ran rough. After a few seconds it smoothed out and everything was ok. Later that day after cooling down, I started it again and had the same problem. After a few seconds it was okay again. Yesterday I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. It cranked uneven like some of the cylinders had no compression. I thought maybe I had a broken timing chain. A few minutes later I tried again and it started right up and ran fine. I changed the spark plugs (which were worn enough they had excessive gap) and changed the oil. I then took it for a 70 mile drive and it ran fine. This morning my wife told me it wouldn't start again. Any thoughts on what could be wrong?
New air filter, no engine codes. Throttle body is not excessively dirty. I would think the IAC and TPS would throw a code if bad. The strangest thing is it runs great once started, and will start right back up if not allowed to cool down. The most troubling thing is the uneven cranking when it wont start. Could I possibly have a leaking injector causing flooding and possibly partial hydro-lock?
