$11,200? For an engine?

I've been looking at Jasper engines. I called and they said they have tighter fitting valve seats and guides to prevent problem factory issues. Lots of complaints on internet about them but many good too.

Just got her back with a new Jasper engine. Dealer I bought truck from paid for all labor and the new required intake manifold. Total for me with all parts at cost was $4,950. She runs smooth and quiet now...just like it was when I parked it then it blew upon restart. Seems a little peppier too.

That engine overheated at some point. The valve seats are steel and pressed in to the aluminum heads. Overheat causes the heads to expand and eventually the seat drops out. Had it happen to me on a 4.7 HO and the overheat was relatively mild, like 235-240*.

Gland you got it fixed for not a real lot out of pocket. I had right at $3000 in mine and that was rebuilding it myself and only having to pay for headwork. There is a thread in the Jeep section of this forum...

With the exhaust manifolds and intake manifold off I could see valve seats. They all looked intact from what I could tell. Not sure about the guides. The mechanic thought the valvetrain looked good but I didn't pull the pan.
