Misfiring cylinder
Hey ya'll.
So I have a 2005 Dodge Durango 4.7 V8 SLT. During the flooding in SC (not sure if it's related or not) I got a check engine light and noticed every time I hit the acelerator the engine would shake aggressively. Losing some serious gas mileage too. Got the check engine light scanned and determined I have a cylinder misfire on cylinder 8. So here's my question. What is it. Spark plug? Coil? Wires? No visible damage to the wires at all. We hooked up a timing light and noticed no light during idle, and when I accelerated it would starting blinking very fast. Basically I know it's something in there and I could go and replace each part until it's fixed but figured I would ask around before I started spending money.
Any ideas?

The same happen to my 2006 durango during a really heavy rain week, after pasing through some streets with half yard of water at 20mph. i know, that wasn't smart. So, the flooding is probably the cause of your troubles, mine was cylinder 5 on a HEMI 5.7.
On my truck, the problem solved itself when the truck got dry the next day. If yours is still bad, try removing the coils, spark plugs and get them dry. When there's a trouble in one cylinder, i try removing the coil and exchange it for other in a working cylinder, so, if the problem is the coil, the bad coil will make the other cylinder fail. The same with the spark plugs. There's some spray for dry out electronics and cables that helps a lot, you can get it at Autozone.
This can sound very simple but it's a simple way to find out what's wrong before you start spending money.
