Default 2005 durango limited 58k miles

I have a 2005 Durango Limited Hemi 58k miles

I have the usual bubbling and rust of paint under the gas filler door. I see a lot of the durango's with this area and Im asking what is the best fix for this.
I tried myself to fix but it came back and getting worse.
I tried to grind down to the metal and grind off all the rust.
Then used some rust neutralizer cleaned well.
Body filed the area and sanded down and primed.
I ordered the paint color from a company on the net that will take your color code and mix and put in a spray can.
Pretty good color match.
Spray painted 3 coats of paint and then clear coat.
Buffed it out looked good not the best but passed on my account.
Now rust is bubbling again.

What would be the best way to fix this?

thanks

The tank is purging gas. You will need a new fuel inlet tube and gas tank and it may be under warranty.

Why would you think that is the problem. I have never seen gas purge out the gas filler area.
I thought this was a problem of just bad design for the rear wheel wells that start rusting.
I have seen many of this year 2005 Durangos with this problem.
My warranty is no longer valid and have never heard of Chrysler warranting this problem.

The tanks and fillers received a lifetime warranty extension. Some people have had corrosion problems from fuel spit back at every fill up running down behind the panel. The rust damage, of course, is not covered. Not saying that's your issue but if it was a wheel well problem it ought to be on both sides.

I watched my 2007 purge gas twice after filling it up before it was replaced. Directly below the filler door my paint started to bubble and peel. The other side was fine. I also noticed a dark charcoal stain a few times a month just below the fuel door as the charcoal canister would slowly purge.
