Default Plastic piece inside oil refill port?

First time ever replacing our own oil. Normally have Firestone do it. After beginning to fill, oil didn't drain down. Eventually we found this inside the refill port. Taking it out allowed the oil to drain down. What is it? Should we put it back in?

Neat. Maybe it directs the oil away from the cross member when emptying?

It's a baffle for the oil fill tube to lessen the amount of crud that can accumulate in the filler neck from condensation. DON'T LOOSE IT! It costs $2 to replace.

Karrun:
As SS says, it is a baffle and is supposed to be in there. It will fit in there in more than one way, but not properly. The oil should drain down just fine if it is inserted correctly.
I always removed mine to clean off the caramel colored "emulsion" as Dodge calls it. I believe it is specific to the 4.7 engine, as my 04 Hemi does not have it while my 01 4.7 did.
