Default Intermittent transmission slipping on 2004 Durango

Hi all! I am new to the group and have a transmission question. I have a 2004 Durango with 4.7 Liter and AWD.

A little background:

The D had started to run unusually hot. I parked it in the garage as we prepared to have it towed to the local repair shop. When I went to back it out of garage the battery was dead. Replaced with new battery and called tow truck. Turns out the fan clutch failed.

When I picked the Durango up from the repair shop it started to run very loud and felt that the transmission was slipping (New symptom). Drove around for a little more and sometimes the D ran normal and other times it would take a long time to find the next gear. This would typically happen (when it occurred) when pulling from a light or stop sign. Sometimes it is fine and other times it will act up. No warning lights and no other unusual symptoms. Checked ATF and it looked fine.

Should also note that the D has the common random 4WD lock issue. For the time being I have unplugged the connector on the transfer case motor because I didn't feel like going on a fishing expedition and there is no consensus on what the causes were.

I am thinking the next step is to replace TPS and TSS. If that doesn't fix it then replace governor solenoid and pressure sensor along with filter and replace fluid.

In the last two years of ownership we have put 13,790 miles on it. Any thoughts or suggestions? When it works, I love driving it. The mystery gremlins kind of sour the experience a bit. Keeping fingers crossed that we won't have to replace transmission.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure how you made out here bud, but when I had this same problem, I replaced both the output speed sensor on the tranny as well as the the throttle positioning sensor and ALL HAS BEEN WELL since then!
