Default 2007 Dodge Durango - Best size rims?

What are the best size rims for my Durango? Mostly road driving but some fields and trails. Have 20s now but thinking 18s or 17s

Default 2007 Durango - Rims

20s came stock but I don't prefer the low profile especially when I'm out in the fields

17's would allow a tire with the tallest sidewall....

Specifically what would that do for me over say an 18"? I am somewhat concerned with towing and hauling (Not outside of vehicle specs) but mostly want good traction in snow and rain. Looking forward to mounting a set of Wrang Duratecs

Traction and towing is more related to your tires, than the wheels. A good tread pattern and adequate load range for what you wanna do is what's important. 17's will give more sidewall height than 18's, potentially giving it an advantage in absorbing bad bumps. Just try and keep the overall diameter of the tire close to, or only slightly larger, than stock.
