Default 2005 Durango hemi not turning over, dash lights flickering

I have a 05 Durango limited with 160k miles that I bought in 06 and have taken care of for the last 12 years. Yesterday it would not turn over when I got back into it after driving around town. No issues were there previously.

Tried jumping for a long period of time, finally getting it started but once I let off the accelerator, it would die. Lights on dash and guages would flicker. Can not figure out. Battery and alternator are testing fine.

Any ideas appreciated.

It's your battery. Try using a different battery. I had the same EXACT issue and it turned out to be the battery.

Did you check your battery before you replaced it?

I did have the battery checked and they said it was fine sadly.

Try using another battery. I'm pretty sure it's the battery. If the car shuts off when you let go of the gas pedal, it's the battery.

Thank you drew. It looks like it was the battery even though the auto parts store said it tested fine. I appreciate your help.

You're welcome! Glad the issue was resolved. I had the exact same issue with my Toyota Echo. I popped in a new battery and all was well. Interesting how a simple item as a battery can cause havoc.
