Default Engine Electric Harness replacement?

I'm doing some AC work on a 2006 4.7 V8 and noticed the plastic sheathing on a lot of the electric wires is all brittle and disintegrating. I looked around and can't find a replacement engine harness available anywhere.
Should I just buy some new plastic wrap and redo it? Will it help at all? Eventually, if it does start failing, do you have to go with a universal and resolder new connectors on it?

If it's just the convolute tubing around the wire harness, just repair it with electrical tape.

It is just the tubing, buts it has large sections completely broke away. I assumed it provided either heat protection or kept it up off the hot engine components. Would electric tape actually provide benefits? Other than just hold them together a little?

Its more for chafing and such, than anything else, electrical tape will work fine. Until, of course, you have an electrical gremlin to chase. Could always just pick up some convolute from the parts store. They probably even have it in varying colors.
