I bought 265/65 tired from Walmart for my 06 slt with 17 inch rims. Walmart won't install them because the oem size is 245/70. Now I'm doubting myself even though everything I've read anywhere says those sizes both work. Am I wrong?

 

Same height and less than an inch wider. Should be fine. Take them somewhere else and have them installed.
