Engine problems
Hello,
I have a 2006 Durango Limited with the 5.7L engine with 140,000 miles. I was driving and the vehicle started shaking as I accelerated above 30 mph. Below 30 mph and I don't notice any problems. Took it to a shop and they said that one of the cylinders has no compression. They also said that I need a new engine. Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and if a total engine replacement is the only solution. Tried asking the shop questions and kept getting told it needs to be replaced. The vehicle is in great shape for its age otherwise I wouldn't mess with it. Thanks.

Question becomes, WHY it has no compression on that cylinder. Lotsa reasons that could be the cause, most of which don't require replacing the entire engine..... I would be very tempted to take it elsewhere, for a second opinion.
