Default RUST??

I have a 2004 Durango and have developed rust by the right side chrome piece on the hatch. I already had this repaired at the dealer once and has developed again in less than a year?

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Also my rear step plate has turned almost to a white/gray color. I am assuming Dodge forgot an additive to the plastic resulting in the dicoloration.

I have an 06 w/ the same issue, i have not had it repaired yet, but if i do i am not going to have it repaired by the dealership, i will be taking it to a body shop for professional work. I also have developed rust on the rear driver side fender under the gas cap.

There is a TSB on the rear step on your 2004 where they will put a new cover on there. Look into it. You are correct that the UV is breaking down the plastics.

FF:

The spot on the right side of the rear hatch is common, as well as the rear most part of the s driver side rear wheel well.

My D is currently at my local Carstar to have rust behind rear wheel well fixed.

Indy:

What is the TSB number for the rear step plate? My 04 needs a new one of those also.

I don't have it on file since it is a Gen2.

Sorry.

If you don't mind me asking, I'm just curious how much the rust on the wheel well is costing you to repair? I'm getting some bubbling there and I don't want it to get worse but I'd love to know what it would cost to fix in case I need to do it in the future.
