Default Changing the look of my engine

I just wanted to get a general census on the work I have done on my engine, I plan to build a custom battery box and paint it silver, may be some airbrush to set it off. If anyone else has changed the way the engine looks let me see your work. I don't like to keep things stock. Here is the link to check mine out. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2079472

That's a SUV CAI filter from a company called SPectra along with the matching engine breather filter. Both I got from PEP Boys total cost $52.00 and I measured out a small piece of 3" inch wide PVC just for the stock tube and filter to bite into which you cannot see.Whole project took about half hour total, very easy. PEP Boys has everything you need to build your own and you don't have to spend $300.00 to do it. Yes it sounds great and you will feel a nice improvement over stock. Gives your motor a throaty sound when you get on it and I don't get that delay anymore and the tires smoke alot more. Make sure to disconnect battery(prior to starting job) when doing this to reset computer and calibrate your gas pedal (throttle) after you are done. This link will show you how. http://www.2ndgendurango.com/Stuff.htm I have had this set up for a month and really enjoy it.

I am a U.S. NAVY Jet Mech who likes a clean engine. After I wash my ride, I always detail the outside and the inside. I can't stand a nasty engine, even my wife's little Mazda Tribute's engine gets the special treatment.

If you don't mind my dumb question... what exactly is involved in cleaning the engine? I read somewhere its not like cleaning the rest of the vehicle..

Thanks

When I finish washing my ride, I do a hardcore wipe down, that means open every door or access where water can go and wipe it down, including my engine. Do not think I wash my engine, no way. After I wipe the risidual water out of the engine compartment, I use Armor All cleaning wipes to deep clean everything that gets nasty on the engine, I also have little detail brushes to get the tight areas, then I go over the plastic and rubber items (do not mess with belts) like hoses, spark plug wires, dip sticks, ect.. with Armor Protection wipes to get that nice shiny clean look. It takes me about 2 1/2 hours to wash and detail everything. Why just make the outside look great without taking care of the engine, plus it's a good way to inspect your engine for problems. It's like taking a shower and not brushing your teeth, doesn't make sense not to keep it clean also. Do not wash your engine ,a good wipe down and some time will make it look nice. I have had my ride for almost a year and the engine looks ten times cleaner today than the day I got it, I get pissed when I take it in to get serviced and the dealership mechanic gets my motor dirty not taking pride in there work which leads to me going off on someone.

If anyone has done any cosmetic changes to there engine please post photos, I really want to see the new ideas out there. I have been waiting to see someone trick out there ride and have it in the Truckin mag. I am thinking about doing some silver ghost flames on the sides of my ride, I think that would be cool.
