Interior Lights
Why in the heck are my interior lights staying on while I'm driving. Yes, I checked the to make sure the switch was in the position to allow them to come on with the doors open. I've got a couple of ideas what it could be. 1) Shorted wire somewhere. I don't even know where to begin to run that down. I can't find any kind of wiring diagrams for the 04 Durango. 2) Timer could have gone bad. Again, where in the world could that be. These are ideas that someone has thrown at me but I figure I'd try to ask someone on here. [&o]

First things first, check to make sure all your doors are shut. I know this sounds retarded, but often they will stay on if a door is even barely ajar. Secondly, make sure you dont have the dome light switch turned to fully on. If you have rolled it all the way up, it's possible that it is turned on all the time. Do you have a key fob? Try locking the doors with it, and unlocking the doors with it a couple times in a row.
Beyond that, you may want to look into this Dodge TSB (Service Bulletin)

Basically, they applied some adhesive wrong and it causes the door flange to corrode. This could cause the door to not sit properly, resulting in the lights staying on.
Try this, have someone get in the truck, start it up.....once its started up.....go around and shut every door as hard as you can without obviously slamming it.....and save the driver side door for last. Once you get to that door, shut it, and press against it and see if the light goes out....if it does...you have your answer.....if it doesnt....I'd suggest seeing what other Durango owners know....as I dont own one, but this is pretty common stuff for most vehicles....
