Default AC problem on an 05.

Well yesterday for no reason at all my front ac just quit working in the front no low, med, med/hi, or hi just completly quit. I pulled up wiring diagrams, traced down wires, and relays, and fuses. Becuse the owner manual is wrong. #7 in the PDC is the ac blower fuse not #1. #1 is the starter. #24 is part of the ac also which is not noted in the owners manual but in the wiring digrams it is. This is all According to the wiring diagrams on dodgebodybuilder and the service manual. Anyway I read up on the ac in the service manual for diagnosis and found that either the control panel had to be replaced, the blower had to be replaced or the infamous resistor had to be replaced! The same resistor for all 2001 up Durango's and Dakota's at a minimum. My truck is not in warranty thats why i did all this work but the infamous resistor problem continues into the genII Durango's and Dakotas. Thought everyone would like to know! The resistor is easy to replace takes 5 minutes. It is just behind the glove box and it only takes (2) 5/16 (i think) to get the small cover off and another (2) 5/16 (i think) to get the resitor out. If you want to unplug it first before you remove it the plug has a lock on the top side that you can't see. Glad i decided to take the hole thing out before i unplugged it or i would have spent some time trying to get the stupid thing off.

So you're problem is fixed then? It was just the resistor? Hope so these things get more and more complicated...

Nope. I had it in the one i traded but the hemi was more than i needed and i was tired of buying mid grade gas! Plus this one is AWD and i like it alot more. The 05 seems nicer than the 04 also. More interior refinement and the ride seems better?

Oh well I guess you never plan to take that thing offroad huh? AWD is nice but worse on gas. I also like my 4L but I do take mine offroad

You may have some problems going up hills with loose soil, I had enough myself in 4L going back up that hill in my avatar. With 4L it doubles your torque up for you in tough situations. I guess as long as you keep it pretty tame then you would be okay though. And what size engine are you running the 4.7?
