NOISE WHEN REAR WINDOWS OPEN
I would hear it very mildly on my '97 Grand Cherokee but it was nowhere near as strong as with our '05 Durango.
We recently bought an '05 Grand Cherokee -- I'll find out what kind of turbulence it produces, though it's probably pretty severe.
I'm suspecting that the newer SUV's are just a lot more air-tight, so the air in the car becomes a big drum?

Here's how to deal with the rear window "buffet" - you need to have the driver window down about 1-2" - it also helps if the sunroof is open in either the vent position or full open. If you are only going to have one rear window open, make sure the driver window is open first. Sunroof open makes a big difference. Only one open rear window makes you feel like you are in a big drum! [:'(]

Oh my god I just the my Durango today and drove about 1/8 of a miles with the rear windows down and the wind was CRAZY.... My ear where popping and everything once I closed teh rear windows it all went away. Even with the fronts 1/4 of the way down is was crazy. So I am thinking the rears will never be coming down..
The moon roof on my other car (VW Bug) makes a similar noise when it is open. Must be a characteristic of air and movement through it. I have seen the aftermarket window spoilers and sunroof spoilers that are pretty inexpensive add-ons that I may try out.
If I go that route I will info this forum of their affect.

Yeah, mine does this even if I only open 1 window up front with the others closed, sounds like I have a helicopter in the Durango, but it's much better if I crack one of the rear windows.
By the way, any suggested brand of wind deflectors for my 2004 Durango? I've also been trying to determine if "tape-on", "in-channel" window vents are best for my vehicle design. Recommendations are appreciated.
