Overhead computer with TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR question >>>>>
Is it possible to make this fit ???
Jeep overhead computer with tire pressure monitor
I have a 2003 Durango R/T and it has the overhead computer with homelink, MPG, DTE, etc. but I would not mind having one that measures the tire pressure !!!! Please let me know what you think, If I could make this work on mone, I would be selling my current overhead computer to anyone wanting to upgrade theirs to mine.

That would be nice to know. Personally I do not beleive it will work. To do this would entail a computer upgrade/re-program. As an owner of a SAAB that has this feature it is really nice but also anoying. It will nag you even if you are down 1psi. Sure it is good for slow leaks though.
I wonder though, cuz the overhead computer that I have now has all the same features as this except the tire pressure monitor, and from reading it, the tire pressure monitor uses the sensors that are on the tires to get its measurements, so there MAY BE NO no programming needed, but I could be wrong totally. I just wished someone knew for sure.
I think it goes a bit deeper than that.
I have seen this setup before, but not sure if it was DC or something else. The setup I saw had sensors mounted on the inside of the rims. they didn't appear to be much, because they just look like small aluminum blocks. The ones I saw had contacts from the rim to the rotars. Again, they contacts didn't look like much, but you know that's not true.
You can then imagine that there needs to be electrical contact from the disks to the computer. Sounds like a lot of parts and labor to me. Maybe you can get the parts from the bone yard.

I might still try it, I think the chrysler / mopar ones use a small radio tranmitter that is in the wheels and the overhead console is the receiver. I just need to find a USED one and then buy the other parts to see and try to make it work.
Actually,,, this might work. My bad, I didn't click on the link he provided. It uses wireless signal from valve stem to computer. Who knows, he might just need to add the correct valve stems. Computer code is free, it's probably already there.
Well I was able to get a used Jeep overhead computer with the tire pressure monitor and will be hopefully try it out this weekend if I have time, etc. Basically once I hook it up, if it lights up and works and gives me some MPG, DTE readings, it should be good to go and I will then purchase the tire pressure sensors. Hope it works out. Wish me luck !!!
